چکیده
endothelial cell (HUVEC) and bovine aertic endothelial cell surface proteoglycans was significantly decreased by the incubation with SNAP andNOR4, poterrt nitric oxide (NO) donors. NO derived from lipopolysaccharide-stiinulated J774 A-1 cells also decreased the binding of EC-SOD to HUVEC, and this decrease was blocked by NG-nitro-L-arginine, a itric oxide synthase inhibiter. Furthermore. the decomposed derivatives ofNO donors and sodium nitrite deereased the binding ofEC-SOD. Ihese observations suggest that excess NO psoduced in the inflammatory conditions decreases the bindmg of EC-SOD to the vasculair endothelial cell surface, which results in a loss of the ability to protect the endothelial eell surface from oxidative stress.

Brain and tissue distribution of polyethylene glycol-conjugated superoxide dismutase in rats.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution of polyethylene glycol-conjugated superoxide dismutase in the brain, cerebrospinal fluid, and various organs. METHODS Distribution of iodine-125-labeled polyethylene glycol-conjugated superoxide dismutase was determined in three groups of male Sprague-Dawley rats: a normotensive sham control group (n = 9) and g...
متن کاملRelease of superoxide dismutase into cerebrospinal fluid as a marker of brain lesion in acute cerebral infarction.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Evaluation of biochemical patterns in cerebrospinal fluid may add diagnostic and prognostic information. We tested to determine whether the concentration of superoxide dismutase in cerebrospinal fluid is a marker of brain tissue damage in acute ischemic stroke. METHODS We investigated 36 acute ischemic stroke patients for cerebrospinal fluid activity of the enzyme super...
متن کاملSuperoxide dismutase isoenzymes of the synovial fluid in rheumatoid arthritis and in reactive arthritides.
The activity of superoxide dismutase isoenzymes was determined in knee joint synovial fluid from 21 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, nine patients with reactive arthritides, and from 17 patients before arthroscopy or arthrotomy for suspected meniscal or ligament injury (controls). Extracellular superoxide dismutase was the major isoenzyme and accounted for about 80% of the total superoxide d...
متن کاملBacterial Infection in Infants and Children with Fever Selected for Lumbar Puncture
ABSTRACT Lumbar puncture (LP) is performed frequently in Pediatric departments to diagnose meningitis in infants and young children with fever. Children selected to have LP who do not have meningitis may, however, have other bacterial infections. During a 2-year desciptive study, we investigated lumbar punctures performed in pediatric departments of Bou-Ali, Emam-Hossein and Loghmane-Hakim ho...
متن کاملGene transfer of extracellular superoxide dismutase increases superoxide dismutase activity in cerebrospinal fluid.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD) is expressed intracellularly, while extracellular SOD (EC-SOD) is released from cells. The purpose of this study was to determine whether gene transfer of CuZnSOD increases SOD activity predominantly in tissues, and gene transfer of EC-SOD increases SOD activity in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). We also determined whether heparin or ...
